Taking some initiative and introducing policy on supporting transitioning transgender people including giving them access to the leave they need to access medical treatments.
Giving staff leave including sick leave for medical appointments whilst transitioning is so important and as much as they need. An understanding employer allowing employees to transition in a safe and supportive environment is great.
Many Australian employers should take a leaf out of Countdown’s book and follow suit instead of burying their heads in the sand and ignoring the problem.
